In the world of ideas, innovation, and creativity, intellectual property (IP) rights have long been touted as the cornerstone of progress and protection for creators. But, what if I told you that the current system of IP is not only ass-backward but also goes against the very principles of civil society?

At the heart of libertarianism is the belief in individual rights, free markets, and limited government. All of that is necessary for a civil society. When we apply these principles to IP, we start to see some cracks in its foundation.
